Dana White shuts down Conor McGregor vs. Frankie Edgar fight rumors

Recently UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov stated that he will fight either Tony Ferguson or GSP. Later after that many fans speculate that Conor McGregor vs. Frankie Edgar is next… but seems like UFC president Dana White has some different plans.

When asked about Conor McGregor vs. Frankie Edgar fight. UFC president Dana White stated, “That Frankie Edgar isn’t going to happen. Frankie is two weight classes below him. (Edgar) is in a position; he was supposed to fight Aljamain Sterling, and Aljamain fell out and got hurt,” He added. “Frankie’s coming to the end of his career, and he could end up getting himself into a title position again. So to take the Conor fight makes no sense.”

Regarding McGregor’s return to UFC, For those who are unaware, Conor McGregor drops a hint as he will return on December 14th in Dublin… But UFC president Dana White drops Dublin plans and stated McGregor has to fight in UFC 245 at Las Vegas or he will fight the early next year 2020 but Conor McGregor vs. Frankie Edgar will not happen.

Recently in a Twitter exchange between the Mcgregor and Edgar. McGregor commented on a UFC Tweet about Frankie Edgar’s birthday by stating, “Happy Birthday Frankie, see you in December.”

Later after that Frankie Edgar replied, “Thanks pal, I said yes already, it’s on you and Dana White to make it happen,” He added. “There you go White,” McGregor then responded. “Make the bout. Give my purse to charity. First responders. One for all! Proper Whiskey.”

“I’m not going to wait around [for Nurmagomedov],” Conor McGregor said ahead of UFC 242. “If Dustin goes in and does it [beats Nurmagomedov] then it’s Dustin, it could be Nate, Jorge [Masvidal], I don’t know what size.”

“[I’ll fight] Anyone, Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, [Max] Hollaway rematch, [Jose] Aldo rematch, there’s so many bouts for me, so many” McGregor added. “It doesn’t matter about who, it just matters me getting back in there and being who I am, not a shell of myself.”
